Academic Calendar/Registration

The Committee’s purpose is to review and consider changes in the academic calendar and/or registration process. Committee members represent the faculty, students, staff, and administration of the college. Per the AFA/District Contract (Article 8.02.C), the Academic Calendar committee will develop and forward calendar options(s) to the Academic Senate and other constituent groups for review.

The Committee’s recommendation is presented to College Council.  The bargaining agent for Unit A faculty and the District will approve an academic calendar in negotiations.  The Superintendent/President will bring the negotiated calendar to the Board of Trustees.  The Board approved Academic Calendar is submitted annually to the California Community College Chancellor’s office. 

The Committee ensures that the calendar meets all education code standards, observes all legal holidays, and provides for the best possible framework for the education process. Also, the committee meets after the conclusion of each registration period to review the events of that period. Verbal, written, and survey results and comments are considered from each representative group. Proposals for change are formulated, and, if approved, implemented.
